Since
1976 the Christopher family has been on the "cutting edge"
of real estate in the Athens and Limestone County area. Through
the years, Billy Christopher has been involved in the betterment of
the community in various business endeavors. As a graduate from
the University of Alabama in the school of business and finance, he
began his career as a loan officer for Central Bank (Compass Bank).
In
1978, Billy partnered with his parents, Ann and Billy Rich
Christopher to open Christopher Realty, and he remains owner, realtor
and broker for the company to date. A great deal of positive
change has taken place in Athens and Limestone County in 25
years. Some of Billy's professional accomplishments have been
Realtor of the Year, Lifetime Million Dollar Sales Award and
Certified Residential Specialist. In 1991, Billy added to a
General Contracting license and began contracting and developing many
successful residential projects. Some of these are Indian
Trace, The Vineyard, East Brook, West Gate, The Vineyard II, Cantera
Place and now in development The Pointe, a waterfront community on
the Tennessee and Elk Rivers.
Through
the years community and civic involvement have been an important
focus for Billy. He has been a vital part of Athens Board of
Realtors, Athens/Limestone Industrial Development, Athens Planning
Commission, Compass Bank-director and Limestone County Homebuilders Association.
Additional areas of public service have been with First Cumberland
Presbyterian Church-Finance Committee, Athens/Limestone Chamber of
Commerce. Presently, he is serving as a director at Bank Independent
in Athens. Billy and his family reside on Elk River and remain
very involved in the development and overall well-being of Athens and
Limestone County.
